Americans for Prosperity–Pennsylvania (AFP-PA), the Commonwealth’s largest grassroots advocacy organization, is raising concerns about transportation-related tax and fee proposals currently being discussed as part of the state budget negotiations.
We’ve heard that ideas similar to those in Senate Bill 796 are being seriously looked at as a way to fix funding gaps for public transit. These ideas include:
- Raising the daily car rental fee from $2 to $6.50
- Adding a new, unspecified excise fee on ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft
- Increasing the vehicle lease tax from 3 percent to 5 percent
At Americans for Prosperity we believe we must be living within our means and can't afford to spend ourselves into a structural deficit.
Call your State Senator and tell them you do not support transportation-related tax and fee proposals being added to the budget!
