Tell Your Senator to Oppose Permanent Entitlements

Senate Bill 263 creates a permanent entitlement for able-bodied individuals that discourages them to work, improve their lives, and try to get ahead.

If an able-bodied individual receiving benefits from expanded Medicaid does work and earns more than just $20,120, they will lose their free health care coverage. This is a disincentive for them to work, and making this entitlement permanent will erect a barrier for them to push to get ahead in their lives.

I write to encourage you to vote NO on Senate Bill 263 and stop supporting entitlement programs that make it harder for Granite Staters to get ahead. Please oppose this legislation!

Part of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), Medicaid Expansion entitled able-bodied adults to receive free health care so long as they earned less than 138% of the Federal Poverty Limit. It was first enacted by the New Hampshire Legislature in 2014 for two years. In 2016, and 2018 it was renewed for another two and five years.

Senate Bill 263 will permanently extend this entitlement.

Medicaid Expansion disincentives able-bodied adults from working to get ahead in their lives, for if recipients earn more than $20,120, they will lose their free health care coverage.

This bill has no requirement for able-bodied individuals to work in order to receive their entitlement.
