As a Minnesota taxpayer, I'm disappointed by the legislature's decision to fill state coffers and take more out of my pocket. Despite a record surplus of over $17 billion, our legislature is taking more of our hard- earned dollars.
The marginal stipends, the majority of which I (and many other working-class taxpayers) don't qualify for, will do little to improve my ability to make ends meet. The challenging economic conditions produced through inflation and a sour economy are compounded by the increase in taxes and fees across the board.
Working families are trying to get their kids to school, buy groceries, and improve their long-term prospects. New taxes and fees hurt working people like me. I respectfully ask the Minnesota Legislature and Governor to rethink their harmful, damaging tax policies. Please stop the spending spree and give us our money back!

Despite Minnesota's record surplus, you're getting shortchanged. The budget hailed as Minnesota's largest tax cut in history, is anything but. Instead, it's a system of wealth redistribution in the form of additional taxes for deliveries, gas, sales taxes, AND increased fees for vehicle purchases and registration.
