I'm calling on you to vote to concur on H.4216 to reform our progressive tax system into the lowest flat tax rate in the nation at 1.99%. This bill will also phase out the state income tax entirely, after we reach the 1.99% flat rate.
Our current state income tax policy needs reform. The South Carolina income tax rate is higher than that of Virginia and Rhode Island. Since inflation is unmanageable for many average South Carolinians, putting us on a path to a 0% income tax would bring economic relief to many.
As your constituent, I urge you to vote for a significantly reduced tax to grow our paychecks, unleash prosperity, and put South Carolina on the path to income tax elimination.
