There's a lot of nice talk about Medicaid Expansion but we know that it's just that...all talk!
As a constituent I'm asking you to hold the line for all Kansans, especially the most vulnerable among us, against failed government programs like Medicaid Expansion!
We know that Medex not only means budget breaking costs to taxpayers, but also pushing the most vulnerable Kansans who most need the program to the sidelines. Expansion adds thousands of able-bodied working adults to the rolls, most which likely already had coverage! In fact, data shows that over the past several years nearly 57% of new enrollees previously already had private insurance!
Lastly, a recent Harvard study found that every $1 increase in Medicaid spending reduces per-pupil higher-education funding by $2.44.
The study found that “Medicaid has been the single biggest contributor to the decline in higher education support at the state and local level.”
We need to invest in meaningful reforms that give Kansans more opportunity, not inflate failed programs that only sound nice but carry a nasty bite.

Over the decades government control of healthcare has resulted in higher prices, longer wait times and a decreasing quality of care. Americans for Prosperity believe the solution to the growing healthcare crisis is to grow the access to healthcare services. That means continuing to expand the scope of practice for non-physician providers, removing barriers on nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists, and allowing more short-term personal option healthcare plans. It also means stopping Medicaid expansion; as the program would cost the state billions, would raise healthcare costs and would actually restrict access to care for Kansans who need it the most.
