AFP-CO No more rate increases!
Tell the P.U.C. you’ve had enough.
Utilities are government created monopolies which is why their rates are set by government. They don’t compete with private companies in the free market, which is why their rates are different than the cost of gasoline and other products. Since they enjoy the benefits of no competition, it is vital the legislature and oversight organizations, such as the Public Utilities Commission, ensure that ratepayers are being protected. It is also equally important the legislature does not pass mandates on utilities that drive up costs and force ratepayers to shoulder the burden of higher rates. Our elected leaders in the General Assembly, our appointed commissioners, and utility companies should work together to ensure ratepayers are being treated fairly.
Colorado’s Public Utilities Commission (P.U.C.). consists of appointees from the Governor who get to decide whether utility rates changed get approved or not. One observer described the P.U.C. as “one of the most powerful state agencies that no one's ever heard of.”
It is time to tell the P.U.C. that enough is enough! Email the commission and tell them you cannot afford to pay for anymore rate increases on your utility bill.
