On April 12, 1776, at the meeting of the Fourth Provincial Congress, North Carolina’s assembly signed the Halifax Resolves, marking the first official step taken by a colony to sever ties from Britain. 83 delegates from North Carolina made the unanimous decision to reject tyranny in favor of freedom. Those 83 delegates would take the bold action of making North Carolina, First in Freedom. 

Since 2010, the North Carolina General Assembly has prioritized policies that represent our values of being the First in Freedom state such as educational choice, cutting taxes, and reducing the size of government; creating more freedom, prosperity and opportunity for all North Carolinians.

I am writing you today to say thank you for your support of policies that limit government overreach, reduce red tape, prioritize students over systems, lower taxes, and protect our first amendment rights.

Additionally, I am asking that you continue to fight for lower taxes, look for ways to lower health care costs by eliminating outdated regulations, and stay focused on policies that limit government intervention and prioritize policies that allow North Carolina to be Forever First in Freedom.
