Tell Helena to Create a Local Taxpayer Bill of Rights in Montana!

As a taxpaying constituent and Montana citizen, please support H.B. 324, Local Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR). We are all struggling from crushing inflation, rising prices, and energy increases, and year after year our local government sneaks through tax increases, new taxes, and hidden taxes.

We are asking you to support this bill, not to ask for a handout but to keep more of what we work so hard to earn.

This bill addresses the core problem of local governments, their out-of-control spending. We do not mind paying for core essential services and love our police and fire departments and rely on our community roads daily.

However, this is different from what tax increases are going toward. Taxes are growing because the role of local governments continues to expand. Local officials are under the assumption that they can solve all of society’s problems if they could have more of our money.

I am asking you to support a Taxpayer Bill of Rights for myself and my neighbors. This bill does not prohibit the government from raising enough taxes to pay for its expenses. It limits local governments' expenses, forcing them to prioritize their expenses and budget rather than just tax and spend the most amount possible each year.
