Protect TABOR. Hold Lawmakers Accountable.
The 2026 Legislative Session has concluded, and once again, lawmakers introduced legislation that undermines Colorado’s Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR).
Two bills stand out:
SB26-135 — State Public K-12 Education Funding
This bill eliminates TABOR refunds under the promise of funding K-12 education. However, the measure allows lawmakers to retain and spend taxpayer dollars without meaningful restrictions or voter approval.
SB26-042 — Revenue Classification & TABOR
This bill exempts certain tax revenues from counting toward the TABOR limit, allowing the state to collect and spend more money outside of TABOR protections.
More than 70% of Coloradans support TABOR, yet legislators continue advancing policies that weaken taxpayer protections and reduce government accountability.
