I'm a worker and a constituent, and I'm asking you to oppose the Faster Labor Contracts Act (H.R. 5408 / S. 844) and refuse to sign any discharge petition that would bring it to the floor. 

This bill would force employers to start contract talks within 10 days of a union vote and slap a 90-day deadline on reaching a deal, or a government arbitrator steps in and decides for everyone. That might sound fast. But fast doesn't mean fair. Real working people need time to negotiate something they can actually live with. 

Here is why this bill gets it wrong: 

• The timeline is unworkable. Even employers acting in complete good faith need time to analyze union demands and understand the legal, financial, and operational implications before they can respond responsibly. A 100-day window (from first vote to binding resolution) does not allow for that. It doesn't produce better contracts. It produces rushed ones. 

• Arbitrators don't know your business. Binding arbitration hands final authority over workplace terms to a third party with no real understanding of local labor markets, specific business conditions, or the workplace itself. That's not a fair resolution process, it's a coin flip with consequences that employees and employers have to live with long-term. 

• Speed serves the union bosses at the top, not the workers at the table." Here's why: union dues don't start coming out of worker paychecks until a contract is signed. The faster a contract gets done, the faster union bosses start collecting.

Bargaining works when both sides have the time to actually get it right. This bill takes that away on purpose. 

I urge you to oppose this bill and to decline to sign any discharge petition that would force a vote on it. Real workers are better served by a fair process than by artificial deadlines that hand outcomes to arbitrators with no stake in the result.
