- I’m writing to urge you to support the States Reform Act (H.R. 5977) introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace.
  At a time when hundreds of thousands of Americans are imprisoned for cannabis possession — despite many states having developed successful and safe markets by going their own way on this issue — it’s more important than ever that we get the federal government out of the way.
  The States Reform Act will:
  - Treat cannabis like alcohol, creating safeguards for those under 21 and defining what government agencies have oversight on cannabis issues.
  - Empower states to make their own choices on prohibition and regulation.
  - Ensures the Small Business Administration treats cannabis businesses as legitimate businesses.
  - Creates opportunities for re-entry for non-violent cannabis offenders with no relation to drug cartels that don’t’ pose a threat to society.
  This bill offers an important path forward for our nation when it comes to cannabis, and I urge you to support it!
