Tell Dallas City Hall: Deliver Real Property Tax Relief
Sign The Letter
For several decades, the City of Dallas has continuously raised taxes and expanded department budgets without significant oversight.
In some years, the City cut the property tax rate, but between rising valuations and sky rocketing appraisals citizens' taxes increased continuously.
This August, Councilmember Cara Mendelsohn called out this irresponsible trend, noting a memo sent to Mayor Eric Johnson and subsequently released publicly that continuing down this path would completely exhaust the General Fund by 2027. Mendelsohn advocated for: Establishing a No New Revenue Tax Rate—cutting the property tax rate enough to ensure that city taxes do not go up, even after increased valuations.
