As your constituent, I urge you to vote NO on extending ACA subsidies. These COVID-era programs were meant to be temporary, but they’ve become a $300 billion slush fund for insurance companies—and taxpayers are footing the bill.
Here are three key reasons to oppose this extension:
1. Fraud, waste, and abuse are inevitable. No safeguards can fix these programs. Minnesota’s massive fraud scandal—and recent reports in Columbus—prove this. President Trump ended similar waste at USAID; Congress should follow that example.
2. The fraud is documented. The GAO and Senate Finance Committee have exposed shocking abuse, including one Social Security number enrolled in 125 policies totaling 71 years of credits in 2023 alone.
3. Republicans should lead with solutions. Propping up a failed system isn’t the answer. Redirect these dollars into Health Savings Accounts to empower patients, lower costs, and give families real control over their healthcare.
Please stand with patients and taxpayers—not insurance companies—and vote NO on extending these subsidies.
