Provide Licensing Reciprocity To New Ohioans
Support House Bill 203 & Senate Bill 131
While occupational licensing is described as a way to protect the people and ensure safety standards, in many instances the requirements for licensure can continue to grow to the point of discouraging potential workers.
HB203 & SB131 would enable individuals who move to Ohio and are already licensed in another state to have their licensure recognized by the State of Ohio. This commonsense reform will attract more people to Ohio and free people to get jobs they are already qualified to work. It will provide people moving to our Buckeye state with the opportunity to continue their already productive career.
Many other states have already reformed occupational licensing requirements to provide this reciprocity and they have seen dramatic results. Their unemployment rates have fallen, and their economies are growing. Ohio should learn from their success and do the same.
